Little Boy Was Waiting for His Mom to Pick Him Up, But Then Steph Curry Shows Up and Did THIS!

Seven-year-old Carl, a basketball-loving boy, was eagerly waiting outside his school for his mom to take him to a much-anticipated basketball game. As the minutes turned into an hour and worry began to take over, a sleek black car pulled up, and out stepped none other than NBA superstar Steph Curry. What happened next was nothing short of magical.

Steph, in town for a charity project, noticed Carl sitting alone on the school steps and approached him with concern. After hearing about Carl’s delayed ride, Steph decided to stay with him until his mom arrived. But it didn’t stop there—Steph turned what could’ve been Carl’s worst day into his best.

The two chatted about basketball, with Carl sharing his dream of becoming a player like Steph. Inspired, Steph gifted Carl a Golden State Warriors keychain as a reminder to always play with joy and never give up. They even played a pretend game on the school’s empty court, with Steph narrating and cheering Carl on.

When Carl’s mom finally arrived, she was overwhelmed with gratitude to see her son in high spirits after meeting his hero. Carl’s joy was evident as he hugged Steph and shared the incredible story with his mom.

That day, Carl learned more than just basketball tips—he discovered the power of kindness, perseverance, and dreaming big. With a renewed love for the game, Carl knew he’d cherish this moment forever, and who knows? Maybe one day, he’ll make it to the NBA, just like Steph Curry.

Steph Curry’s six-word Lionel Messi remark speaks volumes with both nearing retirement

While Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has hinted that retirement could be on the cards in the near future, he opened up on how Inter Miami icon Lionel Messi is helping him to keep going.

Golden State Warriors icon Steph Curry has heaped praise on soccer legend and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi.

The four-time NBA champion is still putting in the hard yards just months after he signed a contract extension as Curry, 36, is currently averaging 22.7 points per game this season, as well as 6.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds this season. While it’s not a vintage Curry output, he hasn’t been helped by Steve Kerr’s currently underperforming team, that doesn’t look like coming close to the star-studded side that dominated the NBA between 2014 and 2022.
An eight-year stretch saw Steph and the Warriors alter the very landscape of basketball as Golden State clinched the championship in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022 with a powerhouse side, led by Curry and his dominant three-pointers. The Warriors have struggled through the current campaign however and have a record of 19-20 as they sit 12th in the Western Conference.

Nevertheless, Steph, speaking after his team were beaten by the Toronto Raptors on Monday night, disclosed how the Miami linchpin is helping him stay motivated as he nears retirement. “Greatness inspires greatness in many ways. There’s nothing specific you can apply from football to basketball,” he told reporters.
It’s about longevity, creativity, and [Messi’s] impact on the sport worldwide. We appreciate greatness, of course, he inspires you to keep going and to keep doing things your way. I have the utmost respect for him for how he takes care of himself both on and off the field. I try to emulate the same.”

While he has not slapped a date on the day he calls it quits, Curry, who has a contract with the Warriors through to 2026, did tell ESPN in December 2024 that he is thinking about the day he drops the ball for good. “More than I probably have before,” he said when asked about retiring, before adding: “It’s okay to accept and acknowledge that the end is near.”

Meanwhile, Argentinian idol Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, is playing out the latter years of his career in the MLS. The World Cup winning superstar enjoyed a stellar season with Miami as they shattered the points record in the Eastern Conference, although a shock early playoff exit to Atlanta United was not entirely expected.

However, as he approaches 38 years of age this year, and having won all the sport has to offer, Messi has remained largely evasive on his future. “I didn’t set any date or deadline about my future. I’m just enjoying all this,” he said via Forbes in October 2024.

He has also cryptically hinted that he could play on amidst chatter that he could even pen a new deal with Miami that would keep at the club until after the World Cup in 2026. “I’ve always said that things happen for a reason and I never get ahead of myself,” he said.

“I live day by day, I try to enjoy every single moment, and when the time comes to decide if I can be at the next World Cup, we’ll see. Hopefully I can continue to perform at this level to feel good and to be happy because when I feel good, I can enjoy what I do.”

While Miami are going strength to strength with Messi in their ranks, Curry has urged the Warriors to remain calm as rumours swirl that Golden State are looking to make a headline-making trade, with some reports suggesting they’re to swoop for Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler. The point guard has urged the team not to make a “desperate move” as the February 6 trade deadline approaches, and has even pleaded with the Warriors to leave themselves in a healthy position once he retires.

“Desperate trades or desperate moves that deplete the future, there is a responsibility on allowing or keeping the franchise in a good space and good spot when it comes to where we leave this thing when we’re done,” he said.
Doesn’t mean that you’re not trying to get better. It doesn’t mean that you’re not active in any type of search to – if you have an opportunity where a trade makes sense or even in the summer free agency [move] makes sense. You want to continue to get better. Nobody wants to be stale or be in a situation where you’re passing up opportunities.

“But it doesn’t mean that you’re desperate just flinging assets all around the place just because you want to do something. While we understand we’re getting older and deeper into our careers and allowing some of the young guys to kind of blossom, it doesn’t mean you’re getting desperate.”

Curry has been named the league’s MVP on two separate occasions and possesses several intimidating records that may never be beaten. He has made the most three-pointers in NBA history and currently has the all-time highest free-throw efficiency at 91%. He also set the mark for consecutive regular season games with at least one three-pointer at 157.
