Carrie Underwood has said she is ‘honored’ and ‘humbled’ to sing at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration in a statement addressing her upcoming controversial performance.
‘I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,’ Underwood, 41, said in a statement obtained by USA Today.

The country singing superstar, 41, is scheduled to sing America The Beautiful after Trump is sworn in – as well as his vice president pick JD Vance.
Fans are divided at the news, with some praising the artist, and others condemning her controversial move of performing at Trump’s inauguration.
As one fan put it: ‘Carrie’s about to have the whole country talking. Iconic move or controversial queen.
One person said: ‘Disgusting, thought she had morals. It was all a sham,’ while another thanked her via X, formerly Twitter.
Carrie is set to perform the song on January 20th with The Armed Forces Chorus and The United States Naval Academy Glee Club after the presidential oath of office is administered to Trump by the Chief of Justice of the United States.
Another called it ‘perfect’ while another said she was a ‘solid choice.’

Kid Rock and Jason have both been very public about their support of Trump.
Another had harsh words for the rest of Hollywood upon hearing the news about Carrie.
‘Nice to know that she’s not a Hollywood blood sucking Vampire,’ they wrote.
‘Good for Carrie Underwood,’ a Trump follower exclaimed on the social media site.
One X user made it a point to insult Taylor Swift in their tweet – as the singer was very vocal about her support of Kamala Harris and her bid to the presidency.
‘Sorry Taylor Swift you didn’t make the cut,’ they wrote harshly.
One person brought up a 2017 skit Carrie took part in with her CMAs co-host Brad Paisley.
The X user had written: ‘How convenient for her liberal a**. Bend the knee, stupid b****.’
In 2017, Carrie and Brad poked fun at Trump’s tweets at the time.
‘Now Brad, I don’t know if you heard about this, but the CMA has given us some “guidelines” with specific topics to avoid,’ she said during the live broadcast.
