Taylor Swift isn’t just letting her music do the talking anymore. The pop star was named Time’s 2023 Person of the Year on Wednesday and got candid about the highs and lows of her career in a rare interview with the publication.
This is the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt, and the most creatively fulfilled and free I’ve ever been,” Taylor proclaimed to the mag, as she reflected on the success of her last year.
It wasn’t just the triumph of her wildly popular Eras Tour that the “Best Day” songstress looked back on though, as she also talked about love, loss, career moves, and widely known moments that have shaped her life including her infamous feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian that came to a head in 2016.
Now, Taylor says it felt like “a career death” to her and that “my career was taken away from me.” She also reflected on the moment Scooter Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings, bought Big Machine Records and with it, her original masters – a move she felt was done by someone who “actively wanted them for nefarious reasons.”
And elsewhere in the profile, Taylor shares details about the timeline of her new relationship with Travis Kelce for the first time.released his song Famous with the lyrics: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b***h famous.”
At the time, Taylor expressed her dislike of the lyric. Kanye said that Taylor gave her consent to the lyric and Kim released a video that seemed to back her husband up
