Travis Kelce has become quite the internet sensation in recent times. Ever since news about him dating the singing superstar Taylor Swift surfaced, Kelce has gone viral. As a matter of fact, both Swift and Kelce have shown significant bonding over the last few months. While Swift has been regularly attending NFL games, Kelce’s absence from Swift’s Eras Tour in Miami grabbed the headlines. But before there were Travis and Taylor, the NFL star was apparently running a dating show!
What Was ‘Catching Kelce’ All About?
Back in 2016, Travis Kelce was just getting accustomed to NFL fame. Having recently signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce had dreams of conquering the NFL. Incidentally, the tight end also had dreams of conquering a different realm—the heart of his partner! Back then, young Kelce mentioned that he was ready to settle down and was in search of a partner. Thus, his quest for the dream girl began on ‘E!’ named ‘Catching Kelce’.
With 50 women coming in from each of the American states, the reality show lasted for only seven episodes. Now, while the show had several interesting tasks and requirements to fulfill, there is one big question that looms large. Did Kelce actually find true love? Apparently yes! In the season finale, the winner’s crown was handed over to Maya Benberry of Kentucky.
At the time, the duo seemed to be overly interested in each other. Benberry also termed Kelce as a ‘perfect guy’. Unfortunately, their romantic chemistry did not last long. After the conclusion of the reality show, the duo went out for a month or two before they split. And while this was quite a surprising move from Kelce, looking back, the NFL tight end is all grumpy.
What Did Travis Kelce Say About His Reality Dating Show?
Travis Kelce is not a proud man when he reminisces about his ‘Catching Kelce’ days. Speaking to the WSJ Magazine in October, Kelce stated, “I don’t really look back on the ‘Catching Kelce’ era.” He further told The Pivot, “It was extremely awkward… At the end of the day, I don’t think I got portrayed as myself. There were a lot of things that just made me uncomfortable.”
