WNBA rookie Angel Reese recently dropped the first episode of her new podcast, “Unapologetically Angel.”
During the show, in which she spoke about her rivalry with Caitlin Clark, the Rookie of the Year award and rumors about the LSU Tigers, Reese also dropped some insight on what her dating life looks like.
The 22-year-old has grown to be one of the biggest stars in the basketball scene, on and off the court. She has over eight million combined followers on social media, including Instagram, TikTok and X.
Reese thinks her stardom makes it really hard for her to date and puts a lot of pressure on the person she would be dating.
She explained that it’s difficult to deal with their private relationship while adding fans who want to be involved in her everyday life.
“I think for, like, a dating life, a dating life is really hard for me,” Reese said. “Just because I think I put a lot of pressure on the other person because whenever I’m dating somebody, I go through their comments. All I see is GIFs of Angel Reese, Angel Reese, Angel Reese. I looked at somebody I was talking to, and all I saw was … I’m like, ‘Oh, my God. I know this man hate me already.'”
Reese said she offers up candid advice to any prospective date.
“And that’s why I try to tell the guy usually ahead of time, like, ‘Know what you’re getting yourself into,'” Reese continued. “Because this is not for the weak. People are going to send you death threats. People are going to say crazy things. Just know I will never embarrass you. I’m going to always respect you. You can always come to me as a woman and just ask me questions about certain things.”
Reese even mentioned that her mother believes it’s going to be tough for a man to be in a relationship with her, largely because of the outside noise. Reese remains optimistic.
“My mom always said, ‘Any man that dates you, it’s tough. It’s hard,’ she said. “But one day I’ll find my king.”
