Human Remains Discovered Near Taylor Swift’s Ocean Front Rhode Island Mansion Amid New England Serial Killer Fears

A quiet coastal neighborhood in Rhode Island found itself at the center of unsettling headlines this week after human remains were discovered just steps from pop icon Taylor Swift’s summer estate.
Police responded to a call Wednesday morning about possible human remains on Everett Avenue in the upscale Watch Hill neighborhood. Officers arrived to find what appeared to be a human leg bone roughly 0.3 miles from Swift’s mansion, according to NBC10. The discovery has stirred concern in the community and reignited fears about a possible serial killer operating in the Northeast.
The Westerly Police Department’s Detective Division has taken over the investigation. Officials collected the remains and transferred them to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office for analysis. While authorities have stated that no foul play is suspected at this time, not everyone in the area feels reassured.
“It’s just something very out of the ordinary for Westerly,” said resident Taylor Day, who happened to drive past the scene as police secured the area. “I would never expect anything like that – especially not in Watch Hill.”
Day also expressed skepticism about the early police assessment. “Finding a leg is very suspicious,” she said. “I would definitely disagree with the idea that nothing foul is going on.”
The eerie discovery adds to a troubling trend, with at least a dozen bodies found across Northeastern states in recent months. The frequency and apparent targeting of women have fueled serial killer fears, though law enforcement continues to deny any links between the cases or threats to the public.
Still, the sense of unease lingers. “My mind immediately went to all the theories that are being thrown around,” Day added. “I’m more aware of my surroundings. I don’t go places that are kind of dim or where I could be alone. Just trying to stay out in public and be vigilant.”
As of Thursday, Swift representatives had not commented publicly on the situation. The Westerly Police Department has not released further updates, but the case remains active and under investigation
