Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced challenges when it comes to their popularity in the US in recent years and now an expert has explained why.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity has taken a hit following their numerous candid media appearances discussing life within the Royal Family after stepping down from their senior duties in 2020. Nile Gardiner, director of The Heritage Foundation, a Conservative think tank, has shared his thoughts on why he believes Markle and Harry have “alienated most Americans” in recent years.
Speaking to GB News, Gardiner said: “Harry and Meghan are viewed as just massive narcissists who spend all the time trashing the Royal Family.” He further added: “Most Americans really admire the Royal Family. The Queen [Queen Elizabeth II] was hugely popular with Americans, and they don’t take kindly to attacks on the Royal Family.”
The Heritage Foundation attempted to force the US Government to disclose Harry’s US visa application to verify if the prince declared his drug usage on the form, but a judge recently ruled that the document should remain private. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who had a lavish wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018, stepped back from their roles as senior royals in January 2020 to become “financially independent” and eventually moved to Montecito, California where they now reside with their two children.

The business expert concluded: “The Royal Family is very much loved in America. All these attacks from Harry and Meghan, they’ve gone down very badly in the United States.”
The couple’s actions have also “alienated most Americans,” according to the expert. The Duchess of Sussex faced criticism after the Netflix documentary series Harry and Meghan and it featured her recreation of the elaborate curtsy she performed for Queen Elizabeth II during their first meeting, reports the Express.
Body language expert Jesús Enrique Rosas analyzed Harry’s reaction to Meghan’s curtsy impression, tweeting, “Whoa. Harry really didn’t like the curtsy mocking.”
