Taylor Swift and Beyonce’s rumoured Kamala Harris fundraising concert debunked
Swifties, it’s time to put those concert dreams on hold as the buzz about Taylor Swift and Beyonce teaming up for a Kamala Harris fundraiser has been squashed. Twitter has been in overdrive with speculation that the two music titans were set to unite their star power in support of the Democratic presidential hopeful.
UK Discoverer sent fans into a frenzy when they headlined: “Breaking News: Beyonce and Taylor Swift to host monumental fundraising concert in support of Kamala Harris”. The article, published on July 23, only gained traction recently, causing quite the stir.
The outlet claimed the duo had issued a ‘joint statement’ regarding the event. According to them, Beyonce and Swift stated: “We believe in the power of music to bring people together and drive change. This concert is our way of using our platforms to support a leader who is dedicated to making a positive impact on our country. We are thrilled to bring our fans together for a night of incredible music and unity in support of Kamala Harris.”
However, the excitement was short-lived as the story was exposed as a hoax by the fact-checking site ‘Snopes’. The original piece went viral on X and Facebook, racking up hundreds of thousands of views, with many fans duped into thinking it was the real deal.
Snope has debunked the circulating claim as false, stating that there is no evidence of the supposed fundraising concert from credible sources, and neither Swift’s nor Carter’s teams have made any announcements, reports the Mirror.
While Taylor Swift and Beyonce have not publicly declared their support for either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris in the upcoming 2024 presidential race, but signs do point to the 59-year-old Oakland politician. This speculation stems from Beyonce allowing Harris to use her track ‘Freedom’ during campaign rallies, a detail highlighted by CNN.
Swift previously showed her backing for Harris in 2020 when she retweeted Harris’s post with a simple ‘YES’, responding to Harris’s tweet: “@JoeBiden can unify the American people because he’s spent his life fighting for us. And as president, he’ll build an America that lives up to our ideals.”
“I’m honored to join him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief.”
Although the rumors are unfounded at present, who really knows for certain?
