Taylor Swift Photo Sparks Wild Fan Theory

Photos of Taylor Swift enjoying nights on the town have sparked theories among her fanbase that she is dropping clues about a new album via her choice of dresses.

The pop star, who turned 34 on December 13, released her platinum-selling 10th studio album, Midnights, in October 2022. The album spawned a string of hits, and Swift became the first artist in history to have the Top 10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Swift achieved the feat a little more than a week after the release of Midnights, surpassing Canadian-born rapper Drake, who had claimed nine out of 10 spots on the Hot 100’s chart in September 2021.

And while Swift’s ongoing Eras Tour this month broke the Guinness World Record for the highest-grossing tour of all time after crossing the $1 billion mark, it appears that devoted Swifties still aren’t getting enough of the star.

Taylor Swift theory circulates online
Taylor Swift on December 6, 2023, in New York City. Swift’s fans have theorized that she is set to release her 11th studio album after analyzing photos of the star.
Late last week, a pair of photos were shared by a fan showing Swift wearing two different dresses during nights on the town. One dress was blue and embellished with a host of silver stars, while the other was black with a crescent moon, clouds and stars.

The blue dress was worn by Swift in August 2022, when she attended a party in New York City following the MTV Video Music Awards. At the time, she was counting down to the release of Midnights. The black dress was worn by Swift as she celebrated her birthday with a host of celebrity friends last week.

Fans online have connected the two dresses as a theme, concluding that the thigh-skimming numbers represent another album on the near horizon.

Newsweek has contacted a representative of Swift via email for comment.

Captioning the snapshots, which were shared on X, formerly Twitter, the fan wrote: “WAIT A MINUTE?!?!?”

Another post, which has garnered more than 2 million views, showed a broader range of images, that included themes of the night sky, including a photo of Swift carrying a constellation-style gold clutch bag.

“I’d like to introduce to you…. TS11 ✨,” read a caption for the post, confidently announcing that Swift is hinting at the launch of her 11th studio album.

“TS11 is gonna be Midnight’s sister album,” one fan declared in response, while another said they’re “thinking that it is about some new album named Moonlight.”

In a dramatic declaration, another said that “if Midnights has a sister album you will never be hearing from me again [because] I will be dead.”

However, some other fans threw cold water on the sister album theory by stating that Midnights had already been paired with her 2019 project Lovers.

Avoiding spoiling the party, one fan wrote: “Midnights IS the sister album to Lover, BUT they can all be triplets!!!”

Going in another direction, some fans theorized that the singer may be quietly keeping attention on Midnights as Swifties express their desire for a new album.

“She’s letting us know that we’re still in the Midnights era and to stop clowning for TS11,” one fan commented, adding a pair of crying emojis for emphasis.

Whether Swift plans to release an album anytime soon remains to be seen. Her international Eras Tour has kept her busy for much of the year.

The tour began in March 2023 and is set to conclude in December 2024 after a total of 151 shows worldwide. It’s seen unprecedented demand and, according to Pollstar, has earned more than $1 billion to date. The tour is also projected to generate close to $5 billion in consumer spending in the United States alone, bringing fans together from across the globe.

Swift broke the previous record set by Sir Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which brought in $939 million over five years and 328 shows.

Her sixth concert tour has been so successful that it has made more money than the combined earnings of the next two highest-grossing tours of this year—those of Beyoncé and Bruce Springsteen.
