“Taylor Swift Renames ‘Kim Kardashian Diss Track’ to ‘Target New Star’ in Surprising Live Wembley Performance”
Taylor Swift changed the title of her supposed ‘Kim Kardashian diss track’ to ‘target a new star’ in special new live version.
The ‘Shake it Off’ star has been pretty booked and busy in recent months as she continues her lengthy Eras tour, with last night (15 August) marking the return of her Wembley shows.
And while she’s been performing to fans around the world, she’s been releasing special live versions of her tracks. Only available for digital download on her site for 24 hours, her recent London release saw this cheeky little change
When Swift released her latest new album, The Tortured Poets Department, in April, one of the long list of tracks was ‘thanK you aIMee’.
And it doesn’t exactly take a genius to spot she had capitalised K, I, M, quickly leading to the assumption she was taking aim at Kardashian
The pair have had a bit of an on-and-off heated feud for a decade now so it’s fair to think Swift was making reference to that.
However, when she treated fans to a special live recording of the song earlier this week, the title was modified.
Of course, the song name is still exactly the same when said out loud but there’s no denying this has to be an intentional switch-up.
The track was instead listed as ‘thank You aimEe’, so the Y and E are capitalised.
That obviously spells out Ye, one of the nicknames Kardashian’s ex-husband, the controversial Kanye West.
Swift’s lyrics outline a school bully who ‘wrote headlines in the local paper’ and even threw ‘punches’ that left her blood ‘gushing.’
Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman, but she used to say she wished that you were dead,” she sings in a pretty fiery verse.
The big original fued initially seemed to kick off when Kardashian jumped to her then partner’s defence after he wrote now infamous, vulgar lyrics about Swift. On his 2016 song ‘Famous’, Kanye rapped: “I feel like me and Taylor Swift might still have sex. Why? I made that b***h famous.”
Kardashian has widely been slammed going on to share a video of West’s phone call with Swift. He seemed to ask permission to use the lyrics with the popstar appearing to say: “I know, it’s like a compliment, kind of. Yeah, I mean, what’s dope about the line is it’s very tongue in cheek either way. And I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice.”
However, she insisted it wasn’t the full call and an unedited version was leaked in 2020. Then, when she was crowned TIME magazine’s Person of the Year in 2023 she opened up about the impact it had on her. Swift said the long-running feud took her ‘down psychologically’.
Swift’s special live version of the switched-up track was also a mash-up with another of her tracks, ‘Mean’.
