Taylor Swift send 6 shocking message to Jason Kelce and Eagles ” she so right : Travis Kelce
Fans hopeful for a repeat of the behind-the-porta-potty embrace heard ’round the world will have to wait a little bit longer. Though singer Taylor Swift was expected to attend Monday night’s brother-against-brother game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, those plans have been quashed by a change to her Eras Tour schedule. Sorry, guy on the Chiefs. Taylor won’t be coming straight home to you, after all.
Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones spilled the beans on Taylor’s previous plans Friday, telling Rich Eisen that he was planning an outing with Swift and her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, after Monday’s game. That made sense: Swift’s Eras Tour schedule had her performing in Rio De Janeiro on Sunday, but taking a break until Friday, November 24, when she’d start a three-show stint in São Paulo. Plenty of time for a quick Brazil-to-Philly-to-Brazil whirlwind trip.
But on Friday night, 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides Machado died after collapsing at Swift’s show at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos, an open-air stadium that reached temperatures over 102.4 degrees Fahrenheit that day. As the record-breaking heat wave continued, Swift canceled her Saturday concert for “the safety and well being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew,” Swift said via Instagram.
Time For Fun, one of the organizers of Swift’s Rio shows, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Swift’s show would instead be held on Monday, making Swift’s presence at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium impossible.
Even with Swift on another continent, there are still plenty of reasons the November 20 installment of Monday Night Football remains notable. First is the brother-against-brother narrative of the game: Donna and Ed Kelce’s son, Travis, is a tight end for the Chiefs, while their other son, Jason, is a center for the Eagles. For which son will they root? Whose colors will they wear?
And speaking of parents, it had been previously reported that Taylor’s parents, Andrea and Scott Swift, would attend the game to meet Donna and Ed for the first time. It’s unclear if those plans will change with their daughter still in Brazil, but it’s worth noting that Scott is a longtime Eagles fan who only recently indicated any support for the Chiefs. If he still hits the game, which side will he pick?
Finally, there’s Travis’s performance to consider. Monday’s matchup, the first time since the 2023 Super Bowl that the brothers’ teams will meet, has analysts predicting a Chiefs win. But those predictions were made when it was widely expected that Swift would be in the stands—and is now well known that Kelce’s performance significantly improves when she’s watching from the box. In other words, while all bets aren’t off for Monday’s game, perhaps they should be, given this new and potentially book-breaking information.
