Three members of the Kansas City Chiefs were named among the top players in the NFL on Friday as quarterback Patrick Mahomes (No. 4), defensive tackle Chris Jones (No. 6) and tight end Travis Kelce (No. 9) each landed in the annual “NFL Top 100” rankings.

The Chiefs were the only team to feature three players in the top 10 of the rankings, which were voted on by the players themselves.

Mahomes checked in at No. 4 in this year’s rankings after becoming the first player to win back-to-back Super Bowl MVP awards since Terry Bradshaw did so in 1979 and 1980.

Mahomes – who already has two NFL MVP and three Super Bowl MVP awards under his belt – also owns the league marks for touchdown passes (219) and passing yards (28,424) through 100 career regular-season games in NFL history, and keep in mind, he hit those marks despite only starting 96 games thus far in his career.

Jones landed at No. 6 in this year’s rankings after recording 75 pressures, 29 quarterback hits and 10.5 sacks in 16 games last season. He was the anchor of a defense that ranked second in the NFL in scoring during the regular season, and his 75 pressures last season trailed only the Los Angeles Rams’ Aaron Donald among all interior linemen.

Lastly, Kelce – who checked in at No. 9 this year – is compiling a resume that ranks up there with legendary wide receivers such as Jerry Rice and Marvin Harrison. In fact, Kelce is tied with Rice, Harrison and Torry Holt for the most consecutive seasons with 80+ receptions in NFL history (8).

Kelce caught 93 passes for 984 yards and five touchdowns last year before hauling in 32 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns over the course of the Chiefs’ four playoff games. The performance moved Kelce into first place all-time in terms of postseason catches with 165, and he now trails only Rice when it comes to postseason receiving yards (1,903) and receiving touchdowns (19).

All three players are already among the greatest to ever play their respective position, and while the individual accolades are immense, the trio of Mahomes, Jones and Kelce have their collective sights on making some more history in 2024.
