Tony Romo Finally Explains Why He’s Always Claiming Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift Are Married During Live NFL Broadcasts

Tony Romo has explained why he keeps calling Taylor Swift Travis Kelce’s “wife” during broadcasts.

Kelce and Swift are the most famous couple in the world right now. What they are not is married, at least not yet.

Romo, though, keeps referencing them as husband and wife when calling games, leaving fans wondering whether he knows something they don’t. As it turns out, Tony doesn’t have any inside information on the blooming relationship and has been joking the whole time.

CBS Sports chair Sean McManus on CBS’ Taylor Swift coverage, averaging 32-40 seconds per game: “I think we’ve done it in a way that has not been intrusive at all.”
It’s a joke. I know sometimes people don’t think so … sometimes the humor doesn’t go over as well,” he told reporters during a virtual press conference this week. “But I think people take to it … people come up to me all the time and they say, ‘what do you know? Do you think they’re going to be (married)?’ And everything.

“People love it. And they go crazy for it. And it’s Taylor, she’s just as big a personality as anybody in the world right now,” Romo added. “And I think that’s a great thing that she’s at the football games, and it adds value, and our team does it the right way … it just comes across organically.”

So, there you have it. As to whether it’s a good joke is up to you to decide. But it’s the sort of joke you don’t keep repeating in any case.

“To me, it’s just more fun to joke with people sometimes,” he added.
