During a media briefing on Wednesday (February 5), Kelce was hit with an unexpected question about the controversial rapper, and his response was swift and direct.
I know you’re dating Taylor, but do you have any Kanye on your hype playlist?” asked Jason Allwine, the social media director of PlayerProfiler. Kelce wasted no time shutting it down, replying with a firm “No” before immediately moving on.
It was a rare moment of bluntness from Kelce, who has otherwise been a charismatic presence in the lead-up to the game. But considering West’s long and turbulent history with Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, perhaps it wasn’t surprising that he had zero interest in engaging.
West, who has been making waves since his wife Bianca Censori’s jaw-dropping outfit at the Grammys, recently reignited speculation about his long-standing feud with Swift. Social media users were quick to notice that she is the only person West follows on Instagram—a move some fans saw as an attempt to stir the pot.
The tension between West and Swift dates back to 2009 when he infamously interrupted her MTV VMAs acceptance speech, claiming Beyoncé deserved the award instead. The feud only escalated in 2016 when West dropped Famous, featuring the controversial line: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b***h famous.”
Now, nearly a decade later, West’s actions suggest he’s not done trying to grab Swift’s attention—but Kelce, at least, isn’t playing along.
