Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole addresses backlash from their breakup before joining reality show ‘Special Forces

Kayla Nicole cleared the air about the backlash she received over her breakup with Travis Kelce since his blooming romance with Taylor Swift began.

The sports reporter and influencer spoke to Page Six ahead of the upcoming third season of ‘Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,’ where she is one of the celebrity recruits.

During the red carpet event for the show, Nicole opened up about the aftermath of their breakup in 2022.
Going through a public breakup, it’s been overwhelming,’ she told Page Six, noting the criticism and negative comments she’s received from Kelce and Swift’s fanbases.
However, she made it clear that she is not afraid of the masses witnessing her at her vulnerable stages while taking on challenges based on the Special Forces selection process alongside other celebrities.

‘I would say I’m the opposite of being afraid of what people are going to see. I’m actually excited for people to see us stripped down, raw, vulnerable,’ she explained.

‘I think people in general, the general public, need to be reminded that we’re all humans, right? We all have very real emotions. And I’m excited about that element [of] allowing us to be humans.’

She also previously showed how the verbal and online onslaught she received helped her mentally prepare for the grueling challenges

God, I think that put things in full perspective, that social media is literally just that. Social media, words on the internet, and experiences like this put life into perspective,’ Nicole added.

‘Like, there’s people in the real world that are doing this on a daily basis to save lives. So the little tweets and the headlines could mean nothing to me when you’re put in an environment like this.’

Nicole and Kelce dated on and off for five years before officially calling it quits in May 2022. Kelce then moved on to the 14-time Grammy winner in July 2023, becoming one of the most high-profile couples in recent history.

The Season 3 premiere of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test – featuring Denise Richards, Carey Hart, Cam Newton, Christy Carlson Romano, Brody Jenner, and more – airs on January 8 on Fox.
