Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may distance themselves further from the UK due to the Duchess of Sussex feeling rejected by the country as a whole, a PR expert has claimed.

Ronn Torossian, Founder & Chairman of 5WPR, believes the way the British people have treated the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has fuelled Meghan Markle’s wish to remain in the US long-term.

Torossian told the Daily Express: “Actions speak louder than words, and we do not need a direct quote from Meghan to understand that she’s not happy with how she has been received and welcomed by Britons.

“That’s not to say that she wasn’t enthusiastic about the country, the culture, or the people when she first met Harry and attempted to integrate herself into the Royal Family.”

When Meghan married Harry in 2018, she happily stepped in and fulfilled the royal duties expected of her.

However, relations between the Firm and the Sussexes have since deteriorated, and Meghan, who has not been to the UK since September 2022, saw her popularity with the British people plummet.

Torossian said: “Her current actions can certainly be a reaction to the rejection she’s felt from the country over the last couple of years. Meghan has made it clear she will do things her way without regard for how she is perceived by the Brits.”

According to the PR expert, while Harry is more likely to return on occasional trips, the royal couple do not seem to be planning any regular returns to the prince’s home country.

He added: “We’ve already seen the impact of this distance between the Sussexes and the remaining Royal Family.

“We shouldn’t expect any trips to the UK from the couple. Harry may choose to visit alone and may be accompanied by Meghan when only necessary, for example, family affairs or events that absolutely should not be missed.”

Additionally, the swirling speculation surrounding Prince Harry’s bid for US citizenship only further reinforces this distancing from the UK and the rest of the Royal Family, according to the expert.

Torossian said: “The rumours of Harry’s desire to obtain US citizenship currently, alongside Meghan’s clear attempts not to interact with the UK, sends a strong message about how the couple is feeling at this moment in time.”
