Kansas City Chiefs make iconic Taylor Swift reference in hype video for Super Bowl LVIII ring ceremony
The Kansas City Chiefs just can’t help themselves.
Whenever they can make a Taylor Swift reference they do it, even when it’s obscure and only Swifties would truly pick up on it.
And that’s exactly what they did in their latest hype video for their Super Bowl LVIII ring ceremony.
“Greatness never goes out of style,” the Chiefs captioned their video on X, formerly known as Twitter.
And in the video, they slipped in similar line: “True greatness deserves to be celebrated in style.”
For those that aren’t as familiar with Swift’s songs, she has one titled “Style” from her album 1989. And in the chorus, she sings, “‘Cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style.”
It makes sense why the Chiefs would want to lean into the Taylor Swift storyline, with the singer being one of the most popular and famous individuals in the world right now. Plus, she is a big Kansas City fan thanks to her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
And she’s not wrong: winning Super Bowl rings will NEVER go “out of style.”
How It All Began
Swift and Kelce’s romance has truly become one of the greatest love stories and everyone is following it very closely. It all began when Kelce went to Swift’s concert at Arrowhead Stadium in 2023, and even made a friendship bracelet for her.
He was very disappointed he couldn’t give it to her, and his reaction on the New Heights podcast went viral. Clearly it caught Swift’s attention. Rumors started flowing of a supposed romance and all of that was confirmed when she showed up to the Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears in late September.
From there, she continued to go to numerous games, watching Kelce and the Chiefs claim another Super Bowl championship. And then the tight end traveled around the world with her, watching her perform.
And on her most recent album, Swift has dedicated two songs to Kelce: “So High School” and “The Alchemy.”
Specifically, she has added “So High School” to her setlist, and the entire performance on stage is dedicated to Kelce. She is sitting on bleachers, cheering for someone special… It’s not hard to figure out who.
Swift recently also performance her 87th show on tour, with numerous Chiefs references. In honor of that special number, Swift wore a red and yellow outfit that was clearly in tribute to the Chiefs colors during the 1989 set, and followed it up with adding “The Alchemy” as a surprise song.
So, it truly is a Love Story.
