Taylor Swift Kicks Off Pride Month in France with Electrifying Eras Tour Show…
Taylor Swift is bringing Pride Month celebrations to France as she continues the European leg of her Eras Tour. On Sunday, June 2, the “Tortured Poets Department” singer performed at Groupama Stadium in Lyon, marking her first show of the month and honoring the LGBTQ+ community.
“Happy Pride Month, Lyon,” Swift, 34, announced to the enthusiastic crowd as she performed her 2019 anthem “You Need to Calm Down,” a song dedicated to the queer community. The stage was illuminated with rainbow lights, and fans waved their hands in unison, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
The music video for “You Need to Calm Down,” released in 2019, features a star-studded lineup of LGBTQ+ celebrities, including the Queer Eye fab five, internet personality Hannah Hart, model Dexter Mayfield, Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, and singer Todrick Hall.
The concert in Lyon also faced a literal downpour, adding another layer of meaning to the rainbows. Despite the rain, Swift and her band performed under tents, while fans donned ponchos to enjoy the show. “We have officially had a rain show tonight and that is set,” Swift declared before performing “Champagne Problems.”
As part of her Eras Tour tradition, Swift introduced two surprise songs for the night: a mix of “The Prophecy” from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department and “Long Story Short” from her 2020 album evermore. She also performed a mash-up of “You’re on Your Own Kid” from Midnights and “Fifteen” from her 2010 album Speak Now.
Although her Super Bowl-winning boyfriend, Travis Kelce, has been visiting her during the tour, he stayed back in the U.S. for this show. Kelce made an appearance at Big Slick Celebrity Weekend in Kansas City, Missouri, the night before, alongside Jason Sudeikis, Paul Rudd, and Patrick Mahomes.
During the event, Sudeikis humorously asked Kelce if he planned to propose to Swift anytime soon, to which Kelce laughed but didn’t give a definitive answer.
Swift’s next performance is scheduled for another show in Lyon before she heads to Edinburgh, Scotland, for a three-night run, continuing her journey of musical celebration and unity.
