Travis Kelce jokes that the Chargers should hire ‘some trash-a** coach that nobody knows’ after firing Brandon Staley… as brother Jason backs Bill Belichick to be the ‘frontrunner’ for any head coach role in the NFL

Travis Kelce has said he hopes the Los Angeles Chargers choose a nobody who ‘doesn’t know what the f*** they are doing’ to replace fired head coach Brandon Staley.

Both Staley and general manager Tom Telesco lost their jobs after Los Angeles’ historic defeat by the Raiders earlier this month.

The Chargers are now 5-9 and sit bottom of the AFC West, a division topped by Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Bill Belichick is among the favorites to take over, with his future uncertain in New England. But Chiefs tight end Kelce is hopeful the Chargers go for someone with less pedigree.

‘I hope they get some trash-a** coach that nobody knows,’ he joked. ‘Go get a young, never-heard-of college coach – I don’t want a f***ing good coach to come into f***ing my division dude, get the f*** out of here.’

Brothers Jason and Travis Kelce have discussed who should take over as Chargers head coach

Kelce added: ‘I hope they hire two jabronis man, I hope they hire two f***ing jabronis that don’t know what the f*** they’re doing! And then we’re talking about it in two years, doing the same thing, rinse and repeat.’

The Chiefs star was speaking on the latest episode of New Heights alongside his brother Jason. The center is not surprised to see Belichick – who has led the Patriots to six Super Bowl wins – is in the running.

‘People are saying that Bill Belichick might be the frontrunner for the head coaching role. Yeah, no s***,’ the Eagles star said.

‘Belichick is going to be the frontrunner for any head coaching role. I mean, what are we talking about here guys? If he is available, I think everybody is going to want this guy.’

‘I hope they hire two f***ing jabronis that don’t know what the f*** they’re doing,’ Kelce said
Travis also offered sympathy to his counterparts on the Chargers as they battle to overcome their struggles this season.

‘Honestly, I’ve got a lot of guys I love and respect on that Chargers team, right now it does not look pretty,’ he said.

‘The guys I feel for are guys like Keenan Allen, who’s just been there grinding it out, putting everything he’s got forward, battling injuries, going out there every single week and not getting rewarded with wins. That s*** sucks, man.

He added: ‘Khalil Mack, Derwin James, I got a lot of respect for a lot of guys on that team, and losing f***ing sucks. I’ve got a lot of respect for Brandon Staley, and for him to go out the way he did, that s***, ahhh. It’s just…’

‘All year he’s been getting hit with questions, like “are you going to stop calling the plays?” It’s just a tough goal for Coach Staley. Sometimes a nice fresh start is just what you need, man.’
